An important milestone in the Off-Airport storyline

As of 28th of September passengers travelling with Norwegian from Stavanger Airport Sola will benefit from a quicker and easier self-service process with the next evolution in self-service concepts. The Tagomats are installed at eight convenient locations for the passengers.

Norwegian is the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe, the second-largest airline in Scandinavia, and the ninth-largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers. It offers a high-frequency domestic flight schedule within Scandinavia and Finland, and to business destinations such as London, as well as to holiday destinations in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands, transporting over 30 million people in 2015.

Stavanger Airport, Sola (SVG) is an international airport serving Stavanger, a city and municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The airport is located 11 km southwest of Stavanger.  It is Norway's third-busiest airport, with both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter traffic for the offshore North Sea oil installations.

Faced with huge capacity investments to handle passenger growth, airports are demanding more cost-effective services that will not put passenger wishes for a hassle-free journey in jeopardy. Therefore, airports may need to look beyond the boundaries of their own terminals, to solutions that will enable travelers to make their pre-flight arrangements elsewhere. The off-Airport concept aligns airports needs for postponing investments with the airlines online check-in capabilities, eliminating the need for extra activities when arriving at the terminal except for dropping the bag on a self-service bag solution.

The Off-Airport pilot is a cooperation between 3 innovative parties of the Aviation community. It provides passengers travelling with Norwegian from Stavanger Airport with the next evoltionary step in self-service travel. The passengers will find the tagomats at convenient locations on their way to the airport (Kiss&Fly, parking facilities, walkway and terminal). In the next few weeks we will add two hotels to the pilot.
