We congratulate Tromsø and Bodø Airport with the purchase of six new self-service-bag-drop (SBD) check-ins
Tromsø was the first airport in Norway with self-service-bag-drop units from BBC back in 2008. The new SBD’s will be operational by December 2016. With this installation the two airports will have a total of 14 self-service-bag-drop positions to offer their passengers.
Tromsø and Bodø Airport is two international airports located in the northern part of Norway. Handling between 1,7 and 2 million passengers a year makes them the among the 5-6 busiest airports in Norway. Both airports are important hubs for regional carrier Widerøe but is also supported with daily frequencies from both Norwegian and SAS.
The self-service-bag-drop (SBD) from BBC is quick (7 seconds processing time) and intuitive for the passenger to use. Both elements are important to increase the use of self-service equipment. From the moment we arrive at the airport the SBD is operational in one working day providing the airport with minimal disruption in its handling capacity. The double SBD installed at Tromsø and Bodø doubles the airports check-in capacity without the need for expanding the area in the departure terminal.
Furthermore the SBD is a CUSS solution meaning it is available for all airlines in the need of self-service solutions. The units are upgraded and monitored remotely ensuring that the unit can operate close to 100 % of the time.
